UThando Phambili is a USE-IT incubation project created to support vulnerable communities through practical, dignity based interventions that combine food security, skills development, environmental care and community enterprise.
UThando Phambili is a women-led co-operative based in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal. We are an incubation project for USE-IT Waste Beneficiation NPC, a registered Section 18A non- profit organisation. We turn discarded textiles and fabric waste into practical, re-usable product- creating dignified work, reducing waste and building a stronger, more sustainable community.
We exist to help people move forward. We provide access to skills, meaningful work, income opportunities and support system that strengthen individuals, families and communities. Through our work we promote self-reliance, restore dignity and create hope for a better future.
Many women and youth in Hammarsdale struggle to find stable work.
Many families face hunger and cannot always access to nutritious food.
Textile waste ends up in landfill, harming the environment and wasting resources.
Limited access to training and tools keep many from reaching their potential.
Our communities need practical and sustainable solutions created by local people.
We support food security through community gardens, nutritious meals and initiatives that care for our people.
We provide training , skills development and resources that build confidence and create opportunities.
We create income-generating work and support women and youth to lead, earn and build stronger futures.
As a USE-IT Incubation Project, uThando Phambili benefits from the governance, project development experience, environmental knowledge and Section 18A donor status of USE-IT Waste Beneficiation NPC. This partnership ensures we operate with integrity, transparency and long-term impact.
